My Teaching Philosophy

I want to develop a working relationship with every student I teach. I believe it is important to build a solid foundation with each student by teaching the basic fundamentals of golf and understanding his or her personal goals toward the game. I believe in building a swing to fit each player’s physical abilities, rather than trying to fit everyone into a single swing style. Everyone learns new abilities in a different way. Some players learn by listening to an instructor explain the golf swing, while others learn by mirroring the instructor or watching videos of other professionals. Other players learn by having the instructor physically help the student get into the correct positions. As a certified V1 Pro golf instructor, I use video analysis software to formulate a specific plan to improve each player’s swing.
I believe that it is very easy to “overload” a student during a lesson. I work very hard to keep all lessons as simple and easy to understand as possible. Having a good student-instructor relationship means working toward total understanding of your golf swing, as well as basic golf terms. As each student begins to achieve total understanding of the game and his or her swing, this will relieve some of the tension and anxiety that is commonly felt before, during and after a round of golf. Once achieved, a student can begin to diagnose his or her own swing errors during a round or a practice session and self-correct.

People play golf for many different reasons, ranging from a casual round with family or friends on the weekend to playing as a profession. Regardless of your reason for playing, golf should be fun. As a player’s skills grow, so will their enjoyment of the game. I am confident with my teaching style and experience we will have fun working together and your golf skills will improve.
